CRM Systems Specialist- IL- Information Technology Services

Job Description

The CRM Systems Specialist supports the university’s recruiting and admissions, student success, and institutional advancement efforts through day-to-day administration and maintenance of the CRM system. This role works closely with senior CRM staff and campus partners to assist with building and updating forms, queries, communications, and reports within Technolutions Slate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the day-to-day administration of the Technolutions Slate CRM system to support stable performance and security.
  • Support configuration updates in Slate, including assisting with user accounts, permissions, roles, and basic system settings.
  • Monitor system performance and help troubleshoot routine issues, escalating more complex problems as needed.
  • Conduct routine data checks and assist with system audits to help maintain data accuracy and integrity.
  • Provide frontline support to end users by responding to questions, resolving basic technical issues, and reinforcing established best practices.
  • Assist in developing and updating training materials and documentation; support delivery of training sessions for faculty and staff.
  • Support data imports, exports, and integrations between Slate and other university systems (e.g., SIS, financial systems) following established processes.
  • Build and maintain standard queries, reports, and dashboards to support enrollment management, student success, and advancement initiatives.
  • Partner with departments to gather reporting requirements and deliver accurate, timely data under supervision.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend enhancements to senior CRM staff.
  • Stay informed about updates and new features in Technolutions Slate and assist with testing and implementation efforts as appropriate.

Education and/or Experience                                                  

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering or a related information technology field from an accredited institution. Must have 3-5 years of experience in CRM systems, with a strong preference for experience with Technolutions Slate. Experience in a higher education environment, particularly in admissions, student success, and institutional advancement is highly desirable.          

The individual must have the following skills:

  • Working knowledge of Technolutions Slate or a similar CRM platform, with the ability to learn system configuration and administrative functions.
  • Foundational understanding of data management principles, including data accuracy, basic integrations, and standard reporting practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with careful attention to detail and a willingness to seek guidance when needed.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and support multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, professional growth, and development of technical expertise in CRM systems and higher education technology.

Computer Skills                                              

Prior experience with CRM platforms required, preferably Slate Technolutions.  Familiarity with SQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a plus.  Familiarity with Python and Linux for automation and scripting is a plus. Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
