Specialist, Business Systems Analyst

Job Summary:

The Business Systems Analyst at L3Harris ForceX serves as the Product Owner and as liaison between the customer and the development team. The BSA is responsible for setting, prioritizing and accepting the work generated by the team to ensure the proper value and functionality of a product. 

The role of a BSA will also be responsible for deconstructing and communicating complex software and hardware requirements with the assistance of Systems Engineers and Solution Architects. The individual will be key working between the stakeholders for the program and with the members of the scrum team. The individual is responsible for contributing to the completion of the program(s) that they are assigned to, as well as working to help develop the Business Systems Analyst role for L3Harris ForceX. The Business Systems Analyst, Specialist Level is a seasoned and experienced professional with proficient job area knowledge and practical knowledge of project management, managing projects and processes under general supervision to achieve operational targets with moderate impact on departmental results.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Partners with stakeholders and customers across the organization to determine the product vision, strategy, features and prioritization
  • Develops, owns, and executes the product roadmap
  • Prioritizes and maintains the sprint backlog for assigned products, balancing the requirements of stakeholders
  • Leads the product functional design process based on an intimate knowledge of the users and technology
  • Works towards the successful delivery of software or systems products with a team, keeping quality a high focus in an Agile environment
  • Works to effectively bridge the requirements gap between the members of the team, technical and non-technical
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and focus on collaboration to gain a strong understanding of what is needed to satisfy customer requirements and to create clear user stories
  • Assist in the analysis and decomposition of requirements and understand how to write those requirements into actionable user stories for the scrum team
  • Assist in writing technical requirements documentation that will be delivered as part of a contract
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and written with stakeholders at varying technical levels
  • Work with key stakeholders to help identify how to validate requirements and user stories as well as document those validations
  • Coming to work with a can-do, get things done attitude necessary to maintain our awesome culture
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed

Required Skills, Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technology related field with 4 years minimum prior related experience working as a Business Analyst or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Experience working with Department of Defense customers
  • Proven background of delivering quality requirements and seeing deliverables through to completion

Preferred Skills, Experience and Education:

  • 4 years of progressively complex work as a Business Analyst

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance for which a basic requirement is US citizenship.
  • Proficient understanding of requirements of engineering practices for solicitation of information and derivation of requirements
  • Ability to utilize multiple desktop publishing and still-image editing programs
  • Highly proficient grammatical skills
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks and assignments
  • Proactive, self-starter with excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment

  • Good critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Good customer relations skills and the ability to build relationships
  • Capable of effective time management
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and strong reasoning skills as well as good analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to travel up to 20%

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Work performed in an office environment; customer facility; System Integration Laboratory (SIL); in ground vehicles or in secure facilities with/without environmental control
  • Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside of normal working hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays)
  • Ability to independently lift 25 lbs.
