Job Description

Position Summary:

Coordinates the Facilities Maintenance and Cleaning Program to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive conditions of company's facilities by performing the following duties personally or with the assistance of other team members: Maintains building and grounds, performs minor and routine repairs, including but not limited to painting, furniture moving/assembly/repairs, changing ballasts and light switches, maintaining water coolers and changing filter systems, replacing HVAC filters, and other related maintenance activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Cleans common areas: lobby, caf, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms and other work areas.
  • Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
  • Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and blinds.
  • Dusts furniture and equipment.
  • Empties wastebaskets, and garbage containers.
  • Transfers paper recycling to larger bins.
  • Cleans production work area, tools, and equipment.
  • Maintains building, performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities.
  • Clears clogged drains and plumbing fixtures.
  • Listens for unusual sounds from HVAC, lighting, elevator or other facilities equipment to detect problems and proactively report to management to help avoid major, costly repairs.
  • Proactively identifies areas in need of patches, plaster repair and painting around the walls, ceilings, and trim of building and notifies management with recommendation.
  • Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, plumbing, as well as grounds and parking lot concerns.
  • Assembles and repairs worktables, benches, shelves and other furnishings as needed.
  • Paints machines or equipment to prevent corrosion as directed.
  • Inspects and evaluates physical condition of facilities and grounds.
  • Cleans snow and debris from sidewalk. Cuts and trims grass. Spreads mulch and tends landscaped areas. Mows lawn, trims shrubbery, and cultivates flowers.
  • Ensures standards and procedures for facilities are met in all areas.
  • Investigates and recommends better, improved cleaning products and methods.
  • Assists in repairing and maintaining machinery, equipment, physical structures, and plumbing and electrical systems of industrial establishment by performing the following duties.
  • Bends and cuts conduit and wire, and drills holes in walls, floors, and ceilings for electrical connections.
  • Cleans and lubricates machine parts such as shafts, pulleys, gears, and bearings.
  • Dismantles machines or equipment, replaces defective parts and motors, and adjusts feed mechanisms.
  • Moves furniture
  • Periodically inventories supplies and equipment.
  • Plans work schedule to ensure adequate service.
  • Polishes metalwork.
  • Removes dust, dirt, grease, and waste material from machines.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
  • Replaces air conditioner filters.
  • Replaces light bulbs.
  • Replenishes bathroom supplies.
  • Transports trash and waste to disposal area.
  • Washes windows, door panels, and sills.

The successful candidate will be trained and based in our Owings Mills Headquarters, Strategic Factory.

The position is non-exempt, and hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
