Summary of Duties:

Collaborate within the framework of the educational and treatment team in the completion of instructional activities and behavior management in keeping with each child's IEP and treatment plans. Daily supervision/care of children living in the residential unit during school breaks. 

Responsibilities:

  • Implement treatment plans and IEP's in an appropriate manner as directed by the social worker, clinician and/or teacher. Provide clean, safe and therapeutic learning environments;
  • Provide a therapeutic balance of hierarchy and affiliation, demonstrating an understanding of the emotional needs of the children at all times.  Implement TCC procedures for behavior management (both verbal and non-verbal) and physical management, balancing client’s needs for structure, nurturing, learning and recreation.
  • Form trusting relationships with the children by forming a therapeutic alliance and demonstrating an appropriate and nurturing adult role model;
  • Provide input into the treatment plans on an ongoing basis; plan, implement and participate in recreational activities with the children. 
  • Provide appropriate small and large group supervision skills;
  • Attend treatment reviews and/or family conferences at teacher or social worker's request. Communicate with designee's families during the week by phone and correspondence. 
  • Collaborate within the framework of a team. Attend and actively participate in weekly team meetings and supervision, as well as treatment plan reviews, in-services and psychiatric consultations as scheduled. Provide vacation coverage for staff as scheduled;
  • Complete appropriate reports and records, including daily logs, attendance information and intervention/restraint forms;
  • Appropriately coordinate child’s safe return to living area (home or milieu) after school;
  • Respect racial, ethnic and cultural differences of all clients and staff.

  • Day Treatment YTC's: Complete transportation rotation/lunch duty as assigned and cottage coverage during school breaks as assigned.
  • Cottage Linked Classroom YTC's: Complete morning routines in cottage, lunch duty in school/cottage and cottage coverage during school breaks as assigned.
  • Respect racial, ethnic and cultural differences of all clients and staff.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience Equivalencies:

  • B.A. degree in Human Services or 4 years related experience required.
  • Experience in an educational setting with ED children K-12 preferred.
  • All candidates must have (or qualify to obtain) a current Colorado driver license. (Must obtain Colorado license within 30 days of employment.)
