Job Description

Start Date: 9/2/2019

Education: Bachelor’s Degree, Masters Degree in the field of education preferred.

Certification and License:  NYC teacher certification and license

Experience:  Three years full-time successful teaching experience. Experience planning, developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating professional development.

Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of adult learner characteristics and training principles practices and functions. Strong conceptual, analytical, consultative and facilitator skills. Knowledge of change management theory and practice, learning styles, team building, and group dynamics. Three years full-time successful teaching experience. Experience planning, developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating professional development.  Good communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.

Math Coach Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inventory, purchase and distribute all curriculum purchases.
  • Train, monitor and supervise the tutors providing academic intervention.
  • Support curriculum and instruction through informal classroom visits and teacher conferences to improve instruction and help teaching staff in their professional growth.
  • Consult with teachers to assist them in building individual professional development plans.
  • Review professional development plans to assure consistency with school and system-wide student performance goals and objectives.
  • Develop clear, consistent process for planning and evaluating training on the basis of student performance.
  • Coordinate training initiatives with the work of mentors and others providing direct support to classroom teachers.
  • Review and interpret local school performance data including student test results formulating recommendations for staff training.
  • Conduct demonstration lessons, observe teachers, co-teach lessons, prepare materials.
  • Act as liaison with outside professional development consultants.
  • Lead and/or participate in study groups.
  • Assist in assessing students.
  • Supervise play ground recess ensuring the safety of the students and staff when needed.
  • Participate in Board Education Committee.
  • Participate in personal training and development activities to remain current with best practices in teaching and teacher training.
  • Attend all meetings as required by Principal.
  • Execute special assignments and other duties as designated by Principal.

ELA Coach Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and monitor ELL program.
  • Supervise student early arrival.
  • Coordinate and supervise Saturday Academy.
  • Coordinate and supervise Special Boot Camps.
