Job Description

The Director of Commercial Banking is responsible for managing the CBO team, which includes
the Commercial Banking Officers and Commercial Loan Assistant in all related
activities.
Establish protocols and
procedures to effectively carry out the performance goals of the team.
This position will be responsible for managing and growing the portfolio, meet with members and potential members of
the credit union, attend industry events. The Director of Commercial Banking
will review and validate credit and financial data prior to loan approval for new
credits and annual loan reviews, including analyzing financial statements, tax
returns, appraisals, environmental reports, and market conditions.
Major Duties and Responsibilities and Essential FunctionsManage and develop the CBO team.  Set and manage performance goals.  Provide training on guidance on portfolio management and growth, including cross selling members on products.  Manage new loan production pipeline from underwriting, processing and closing on organic loans and participations purchased by the credit union.  When required perform site inspections on collateral and analyze potential risk to the credit union.  Underwrite complex credits, and present to credit committee.  Manage a small loan portfolio including renewals, extensions, modifications and refinancing requests.  Validate credit and financial data on all credit memos and annual reviews submitted by CBO team, prior to submitting to loan committee.  Participate in department or corporate projects as necessary.  Use Service Standards timeliness and accuracy in every work related interaction.  Demonstrate the ability to multitask and meet required deadlines.  Other duties as assigned.  Understand and stay abreast of changes to SFCU Policy and Procedures, and NCUA Regulations, including but not limited to, The Bank Secrecy Act, The Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets and Control.Specific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this PositionExperienceMinimum five (5) to seven (7) years of working experience in commercial banking.Education/Certifications/LicensesBachelor Degree or equivalent from a 4 year college or university in Accounting, Finance Business Administration or similar field.  Certificate in commercial lending or financial analysis a plus.Core Job SkillsAbility to independently assess and analyze complex loan proposals, structures, financial statements and credits.  Makes recommendations based on analysis derived and deducted from a solid understanding of credit risk.  Working knowledge of financial products, services and loan policies and procedures.  Recognize and stay abreast of financial trends and patterns.  Detailed oriented.  Maintain proper credit file documentation.Core Communication SkillsAbility to communicate and understand written and oral language.  Excellent telephone etiquette.  Good business writing skill-short, simple, and straight to the point.  Effectively and clearly represent complex commercial credits.Core Interpersonal SkillsDisplays ability to follow and/or deliver instructions; especially the complex ones.  Display openness to other viewpoints and constructive criticism.  Maintain and establish effective relationships.Core Business SkillsAbility to make sound judgments with minimal guidance.  Meet performance objectives based on goals, and SFCU core values.  Synthesizes financial data into meaningful terms.  Strong analytical and decision making skills.  Ability to solve problems.Other SkillsSelf-starter and self-motivated.  Must be proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point.  Working knowledge of the following programs:
