The Senior Financial Analyst is a key member of the Finance team responsible for supporting budget system administration, reporting, budgeting, and ad hoc analysis. This position serves as a financial business partner to the Firm’s organizational units in all matters of financial planning and analysis. The Senior Financial Analyst contributes to the development of scalable processes while ensuring delivery of information required to drive decision-making and achievement of fiscal objectives.
Responsibilities of the position include creating, maintaining, and distributing accurate reporting packages, as well as performing actual vs. budget and prior year variance analyses at various levels. The Senior Financial Analyst will develop and present analysis that brings together financial data, key operating metrics and business information and communicate said analysis/information in a way that facilitates decision-making. The Senior Financial Analyst will prepare ad hoc and routine financial analysis using advanced modeling techniques for special projects, and “what if” scenarios relating legal departments, geographic locations, types of business, etc. The analyst will apply organizational as well as written and verbal communications skills to assist in managing the annual budgeting process with finance and other departmental managers and directors, and supports the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis in establishing and executing the department’s objectives.
Candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration (MBA preferred) and a minimum of 5 years’ related financial systems and financial analysis experience including in-depth systems administration and budgeting experience. Law firm or professional service organization experience is preferred. Candidate should have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a sense of urgency and commitment to accuracy and the ability to handle ambiguity and lead areas of responsibility with minimal supervision. Candidate should also have strong attention to detail, initiative and the ability to follow up and follow through; excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and customer service skills; and ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously under tight deadlines. Candidate should have excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, lookup), and understand information technology-driven business intelligence tools, like online analytical processing (OLAP). A working knowledge of Aderant Expert (CMS Open), Executive Office, and SQL Server is preferred.
