Position Description
At United Schools, the Teaching Fellow position provides a unique opportunity for talented individuals to explore the field of education and to gain hands-on practice and the training necessary to become a successful full-time classroom teacher. Teaching Fellows will have an opportunity to observe and learn from experienced educators, observe best practices in classroom instruction, provide in-house substitute teaching coverage for teachers, co-teach with teacher-leaders, and support teachers with tutoring, grading, and individual or small-group instruction. The aim is for Teaching Fellows to become candidates for full-time teaching positions for the following school year, and they may be called on to gradually assume the role of a classroom teacher as the fellowship year progresses.
The Teaching Fellow will be providing coverage in various elementary school classrooms during a parental leave of absence. There will be an onboarding period for a few weeks prior to the start of the leave at which point the Teaching Fellow will start providing building-wide coverage. It is anticipated that this assignment will run from December 8, 2025 through March 13, 2026 although the actual dates may vary.
