Hourly rate of $17.24 is equivalent to $35,859.20 per year.
General Schedule:
Position typically works Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. Occasional evenings and weekends.
Position Overview:
Performs a range of communications and/or marketing related work which may include print, social media, web content, or multi-media. Creates and disseminates content for internal/external audiences through a variety of media. Final products may be subject to approval by a higher-level professional. Coordinates and implements communication activities, such as press release drafting, creation of press materials, coordination of creative assets, and photography. Assists and implements all marketing strategies by preparing proposal, presentation, and communication materials. Coordinates the distribution of internal and external marketing literature. Assists in writing and editing sales and marketing materials, which include articles, presentations, white papers, and collateral. Assists in promotional strategies and product development. Distributes communications, such as press releases, according to the communications calendar. Updates and manages company websites and social media accounts. Collaborates to develop organizational branding and ensures all communications are consistent with company branding, marketing and communication objectives. Performs work under general supervision. Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses solid working knowledge of subject matter.
Department Specific Functions:
Implements and oversees Wellness Center membership program including community, alumni, and family membership sales.
Communicates regularly with members, keeping them informed about special offers, gym closings, hours of operation, group fitness schedules, etc.
Creates and maintains a social media strategy which coordinates frequent content development to promote all Department of Wellness and Sport programs to include but not limited to intramurals, UCO Wellness Collective, UCO Boathouse at Arcadia Lake, UCO Endeavor Games, group fitness, personal training, and memberships.
Organizes occasional promotional events that highlight Department of Wellness and Sport programs.
Writes press releases for Department of Wellness and Sport events and activities.
Serves as an ambassador for all Department of Wellness and Sport activities including but not limited to giving informative tours of the building, setting up a booth or table at various campus events, and speaking to classes about opportunities students have at the Wellness Center and the Boathouse at Lake Arcadia.
Creates social media strategy and press releases for signature Wellness and Sport events, including but not limited to the UCO Endeavor Games, Broncho Games, Broncho Bash, and Boathouse Bash.
Creates simple TV slides, social media posts, or signage using Photoshop, Canva or similar program.
Willingness to occasionally perform evening and weekend work.
Qualifications/Experience Required:
Requires a university degree in related field or 4+ years of equivalent work experience in chosen field that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts.
Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and be able to operate a typical motor vehicle.
Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience Preferred:
Experience working for a marketing communications team is strongly preferred. Experience assisting with social media plans. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and able to quickly learn new technology. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite applications such as editing and resizing photos in Adobe Photoshop. Must be able to deliver excellent guest service. Strong leadership capabilities and interpersonal skills are preferred. Exceptional communicator with verbal and written skills.
