Job Description

Child & Family Support Services (CFSS) is accepting applications for a Child Therapist in Pima County.

The Therapist will provide comprehensive care to address the presenting behavioral health needs. We specialize in partnering with families to build effective relationships and to inspire hope for a positive future. This position involves working directly with children and families.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide counseling to children and families who are experiencing a range of stressors and traumatic events. Counseling approaches are strength based and family centered. Provide psychoeducation to caregivers and system stakeholders to promote an understanding of trauma and its impact on behavior. Deploy counseling strategies to promote physiological regulation and emotional safety (*action oriented)
  • Collaborating with family, team members to create recommendations for clinical services and strategies and approaches within a child’s circle of relationships and life domains to support their development and promote resilience. Provide clinical recommendations to caregivers can deploy to support a healing environment (*individually tailored)
  • Facilitating clinical meetings (establishing an agenda, setting and maintaining a strength based meeting environment, staying within timeframes, giving all team participants the opportunity to contribute, holding people accountable for their commitments and the ability to assist a team in developing a consensus) for children and families. (*count on me teammate)
  • Interacting professionally with other stakeholders Division of Child Safety (DCS), Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), juvenile probation, Direct Service Providers (DSP), etc.) (*relationship focused)
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Applicant must be 21 years or older.
  • Must have a Master's degree. Child and Family Counselor: Licensure preferred
  • Reliable transportation is required, including proof of insurance, a vehicle safety check and an acceptable driving record.
  • Candidates are required to submit a negative substance abuse test, be able to obtain fingerprint and criminal history background clearance, and clear the Central Registry Check Reports of child abuse and neglect. CPR, First Aid, and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention are required trainings that are provided by the agency.
  • Must be BHT with two (2) years of related behavioral health work experience or related Master’s degree. Child and Family Counselor: Master's degree/Licensure preferred.

Education:

  • Related Master's degree required. LAC, LPC, LMSW, LCSW preferred
