Job Description

Job Title:                   Volunteer Coordinator/Event Planner

                              

Qualifications:          Bachelor's Degree in marketing, business, non-profit management or related field.  A minimum of one year related experience with two years’ experience preferred. 

Reports to:  Director of Development

Scope:  This full-time, salaried, exempt position has responsibilities which include, but are not limited to, connecting volunteers and donors to provide experiences and services to children and families served by Hope Center for Children; and overseeing the planning of all fundraising events.  This is accomplished by providing excellent customer service to inquiring members of the public and staff internally while facilitating all volunteer and community engagement activities, including assisting with social media platforms. 

 

Position Responsibilities:

·       Volunteers

o   Supervise volunteer application and training process.

o   Maintain a master volunteer calendar to be coordinated with the Child Advocate, Family Teachers and Facilities Supervisor.

o   Coordinate all work projects with Facilities Supervisor.

o   Maintain ‘Get Connected’ website through the United Way on behalf of HCFC.

o   Manage Volunteer Appreciation activities for the purpose of recognizing key volunteers (ongoing and annual)

o   Ensures the regular updating of all policies related to volunteerism and general public relations so that they meet organization needs and comply with accreditation standards.

o   Ensure that volunteers are utilized in a way that the safety, privacy and respect for those we serve is furthered.

o   Oversee update of volunteer information regularly in volunteer and donor databases and maintain volunteer files to meet accreditation standards.

o   This position ensures that volunteer records are audited in timely manner per organization policies and reports on these audits periodically to the PQI committee.

·       Community Development

o   Collaborate with other child advocacy agencies to coordinate and oversee Child Abuse Prevention Month activities

o   Assist with Special Events, including solicitation of donations.

o   Ensures that key in-kind needs are known and communicated to our community.

o   Develop a system for assessing organization needs and recruiting and matching volunteer and donor needs.

o   Represent HCFC at community events.

·       Event Planning

o   Under the direction of the Director, implements and carries out planning of all donor/patron events

o   Recruits volunteer committees to assist with planning and oversees the committees

·       Social Media

o   Assist with social media with purpose of communicating our brand and needs to the community.

·       Other duties as assigned.

 

Positions Supervised: Volunteers and (if applicable) AmeriCorps VISTA member

 

Knowledge, Skill and Experience Required:   Must enjoy talking with and interacting with people.  Strong writing skills and understanding of grammar is required.  Needs knowledge of Microsoft office Word. Excel, and PowerPoint required; email marketing and social media marketing experience is preferred.  Must be able to work as a team with the ability to work independently.  Strong communication and problem solving skills is required and attention to detail and deadlines required.  Candidate needs the ability to work cooperatively with all types of community members.  Passion for the success of the Hope Center for Children mission required.
