Position: New Teacher Coach

Reports to: Assistant Principal of Instruction

Location: RISE High School

Status: Full time, In-Person, Exempt Position

Salary: $50,000 to $74,000

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE 

New Teacher Coaches play a critical role in STRIVE Prep’s commitment to increase achievement for all students by mentoring, coaching, and supporting teachers schools with planning and executing on culturally responsive lessons, while leveraging high impact data and instructional strategies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

• Work side-by-side with teachers across the campus to improve student learning outcomes
• Spend at least 85% of their time engaged in job-embedded coaching and development through teaching, modeling and insisting on best instructional and data practices
• Analyze student work and data alongside new teachers in order to craft targeted, and timely re-teach plans
• Build safe, trusting relationships with new teachers while also actively engaging in strategies that seek to build brave and belonging communities amongst new teachers
• Plans and facilitates New Teacher PLCs based on New Teacher student achievement, TNTP, and other data  
• Model equitable leadership, classroom, and instructional practices 
• Support a portfolio of teachers with culturally responsive module and lesson internalization practices 
• Support a portfolio of teachers with building content expertise and pedagogy specific to the content taught

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (OR PREFERENCES WHERE NOTED)

• Bachelor’s degree 
• Minimum of three years of teaching experience
• Proven track record as a teacher and teacher coach 
• Preference will be given to candidates with experience leading organizational turnaround work
• Experience working with an emphasis on data-driven instruction and demonstrable gains in student achievement 

• Speaks Spanish and has experience working with bilingual students (Strongly preferred) 
• Demonstrated success working with students of color (Strongly preferred) 
• Experience in Title I schools (Strongly preferred)
• Experience in a charter network (Strongly preferred)
• Experience working in a school setting with students with varied disabilities (Strongly preferred)

• All STRIVE Prep employees will receive an additional $3,000 in their base salary after the 3rd year, 5th year, and 7th year of service at STRIVE Prep.
