Job Description

Nanwai King's College School Wuxi will be seeking to appoint a secondary librarian for an August 2022 start.

At Nanwai King’s College School Wuxi, our mission is to educate well-rounded young men and women who will make a positive contribution to society.  We are a learning community aspiring to excellence in all aspects and are determined that our school will be at the forefront of educational practice, not only in China but worldwide. It is our aim to produce students equipped for the challenges of global citizenship and leadership in the 21st century.

Bilingual School

In the elementary and junior high school sections, students undertake the Chinese National Curriculum delivered via modern, international pedagogy with content delivered by Chinese- and English-speaking teachers to foster bilingualism as students progress. The aim is to supplement the national curriculum and to meet the needs of each child by giving a breadth of educational experience and academic depth in all areas of studies from core subjects to co-curricular activities. This paired bilingual teaching model is instrumental in ensuring high-quality educational delivery, encouraging students to explore, discover, and excel.

International School

Expatriate students entering the international school follow the English National Curriculum along with the study of Mandarin to encourage cross-cultural themes and experiences. The curriculum instils the breadth and depth required to prepare for success at IGCSE and A-level. Our international school offers teachers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of students from a variety of backgrounds. Dynamic, adaptable and enthusiastic educators will fit in well with the ethos of the school and the needs of the students. Our end goal for all students is success in IGCSE and A-level examinations. Balancing this objective with differing nationality and language backgrounds, as well as the movement of expatriate families in and out of the school, requires strong educators with the skills to quickly and effectively create working relationships with their students.

High School

The high school (one of four individual school sections) delivers a range of IGCSE and A Level courses for Chinese and expatriate students and began delivering the IB Diploma Programme from September 2021. Enrolment is expected to reach 500 students this year. The student body at the high school level encompasses a range of nationalities.

Nanwai King's aims for world-class standards in teaching and learning, therefore salary and benefits packages are highly competitive, including high-quality housing, flights for employee and dependents, and medical insurance for employee and dependents. Full tuition support will be provided for any successful applicant with school-age children. The position will be offered on an initial three-year contract term with annual renewal thereafter.

REQUIREMENTS
We are seeking to appoint highly talented individuals for all areas of the school who share our ethos, enjoy working collaboratively and cross-culturally, and who have the passion to contribute to the development of an outstanding school.
We are building a diverse, enthusiastic and highly supportive community of teachers with a commitment to academic excellence.

We are looking for academic staff who are fully committed to the teaching process and who want to make a real difference to children's lives.

Every teacher has both academic and pastoral responsibilities and will be expected to contribute actively to the pastoral and co-curricular programs of the school.

As the school develops, there will be many opportunities for staff to take on responsibility - promotion from within of those who are committed and talented will be a focus.
