About the School

Shanghai Huaer Collegiate School Kunshan employs a blended Chinese and American curriculum that combines a drive for academic excellence within a whole child education program designed to nurture healthy, globally aware young adults. Learning with Huaer Collegiate truly is a process. Each stage of education prepares the scholar for the next, from preschool through Grade 12 and onto college. Scholars who spend their entire school life with us benefit from the continual and consistent support that only a progressive curriculum can provide.

During the compulsory education stage, the school fully implements the Chinese National Curriculum, endorsed by the Ministry of Education. Using the national curriculum as a guide, the school introduces a highly interactive and learner-centred teaching model that is also aligned with the leading American curriculum standards such as Common Core, Next Generation Science and International Society for Technology in Education. Aligning these curriculum standards provides an immersive bilingual learning environment that cultivates interdisciplinary and integrated learning in science, technology, engineering, arts (humanities, physical education, visual arts, music, drama), and mathematics (iSTEAM). This allows scholars to achieve academic excellence while at the same time echoing the concept of whole child, personalized education and teaching.

At Huaer Collegiate, teachers are committed to whole child education and therefore, play multiple roles. They should not only be able to impart knowledge, but also be able to have heart-to-heart talks with scholars and act as their academic and life advisors. These responsibilities put forward a deeper level of requirements for teachers, such as the compatible vision for whole child, personalized education, rigorous attitude, outstanding academic ability, and love for education and children. We put these talented individuals into an open and collaborative environment and build a team of teachers that combines innovation and continuous improvement.

We expect our educational leaders to embody the very same high standards and dispositions we expect our graduates to model: to be a resilient scholar, adaptable ambassador, enlightened communicator and ethical visionary. Therefore, every educator will be expected to contribute actively to the whole life of the school, working with scholars beyond the classroom in advisory, co-curricular and residential programs. We are building a diverse, enthusiastic and highly supportive community of teachers who are committed to academic excellence and the creation of opportunities for scholars to take charge of their learning with daring optimism and drive.

We are seeking to appoint a highly talented faculty to cover all areas of the school and who can share in our ethos - enjoying collaboration and learning, embracing cross-cultural adaptability, and sharing a resilient and ethical passion for developing an outstanding college preparatory school.
