Job Description

We are adding an Assistant Controller to our Finance and Treasury team, to help the CFO manage financial transactions, ensure accurate recording of transactions in the Bank’s books and records, ensure all transactions are adequately supported, and follow/implement accounting policies as established by the CFO.

Specifically, you will:

  • Prepare monthly financial closing and adjusting entries
  • Prepare monthly G/L account reconciliations as assigned
  • Set up prepaid and fixed assets on the BankTel system and maintain accurate recordkeeping with support and explanations
  • Assist in preparation of monthly financial reports to Senior Management and the Board
  • Review all AP transactions to ensure proper GL coding before posting to system
  • File and Maintain all G/L reconciliations and journal entries in an orderly manner
  • Help prepare quarterly call reports , annual FDIC Summary of Deposits and FR-Y series of weekly regulatory reports
  • Support investment portfolio operations, including settling securities purchases/sales, securities safekeeping , pledge and borrowing activities and securities portfolio accounting
  • Assist with internal and external Audit requests and communicate with internal and external Auditors as needed. Assist CFO in annual external financial statement audit and preparation of audited financial statements
  • Respond to regulatory exam information requests
  • Serve as back-up to process all A/P and invoice payment transactions as needed
  • Review Daily GL Balancing report and communicate with appropriate departments about any reconciling differences and ensure appropriate adjustments are made and explanations provided
  • Assist CFO in preparation of quarterly Asset/Liability modeling requirements and ALCO Committee reporting

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a BA or BS in Accounting or Finance, with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Advanced Excel), Jack Henry, BankTel, and GAAP
  • Has 5-8 years’ experience as an accountant/senior accountant in a federally chartered financial institution, with 2-3 years’ supervisory experience
  • Is a proactive self-starter with a strong service orientation
  • Can communicate effectively with all constituents, both orally and in writing
  • Has strong quantitative skills and attention to detail
  • Can manage multiple deliverables simultaneously
  • Will adhere scrupulously to our Code of Ethics and bank policies

Is willing to travel between Bank locations as needed and will work the hours necessary to meet project deadlines and deliverables.
