Mechanical Engineer Job Description
CREFORM pipe and joint material handling system. Common structures include flow racks, workstations, stands, display boards, carts, and AGVs. Structures are quickly customer designed and assembled. Commonly used as a tool to support LEAN Manufacturing, Kaizen-C.I., and 5-S programs since Creform structures may be easily reconfigured and recycled to meet changing needs. Candidate will develop and support AGV electrical and controls systems to be used with material handling applications. Engineer will design and program creative solutions to automate machinery to move and track materials throughout manufacturing environments. Must be able to work collaboratively with other software Engineers and can eventually work independently with minimal support. The Mechanical Engineer role is a technical position in a fast-paced, challenging, and positive work environment. Working with a variety of clients and technologies, you will develop machine and mechanical designs for client vision systems: concept, design, component selection, assembly and installation. Develop mechanical designs and learn expert vision inspection techniques while collaborating with vision engineers to overcome project obstacles and create inspection system related machinery.
Candidate would ideally have 3-5 years’ experience with programming PLC and other automation equipment. Programmer will be networking automation equipment with AGV systems to be used for material traceability and process control. Experience interconnecting HMIs, PLCs and using remote IO systems are a requirement.
Additional automation equipment may include but not limited to motor drives, conveyor systems, barcode readers, safety laser scanners and PLCs, multi axis robots, 13.56MHz RFID systems. Etc.
Create customized automation designs
Proficient in 2D/3D modeling
Ability to develop, read, and analyze blueprints
Design using 2D/3D modeling; AutoCAD and SolidWorks
Conceptualize, design and analyze parts, components, assemblies and subassemblies
Maintain system and product database by writing computer programs and entering data
Develop manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling and installing
Produce associated conceptual drawings
Identify opportunities for design improvement, and cost reduction
Carry out technical and manufacturing troubleshooting and establish procedures and corrective actions to avoid recurrences
Evaluate and implement design changes, specifications, and drawing releases, working closely with the engineering team
Support customer builds, installations and production at company and customer plants.
Work closely with suppliers to insure components meet specifications specific to design responsibilities
Candidate must be able to skillfully read and interpret electrical schematics to be used for testing and troubleshooting AGV systems. Ability to use electrical test equipment such as volt meters and oscilloscopes is required. AutoCAD Electrical design experience is a benefit and will be used for updating existing drawing with some simple design work.
Monday through Friday 8am – 4:30pm
Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required dependent on the needs of the business
Travel required 25-35% to customer locations
Creform follows all CDC and state and local guidelines for travel, working, and quarantine.
All workers and visitors are required to wear face masks and subject to temperature checks while on Creform property.
This is a non-exempt position, company payroll practices every Thursday
