SUMMARY OF POSITION: To perform a wide range of duties involving: the upkeep and cleanliness of the plant inside and outside. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Plant a. Keep bathrooms clean. b. Sweep and scrub aisle ways with power sweeper. c. Empty waste cans and cigarette butt cans. d. Clean drinking fountains. e. Clean non-production areas not delegated to specific department. f. Perform other general building maintenance duties as required. 2. Office Area a. Clean bathrooms. b. Vacuum carpets. c. Mop and wax tile floors. d. Empty trash cans. e. Dust and wash windows. 3. Cafeteria a. Keep tables clean. b. Mop and wax floor. c. Clean refrigerator and microwaves. 4. Outside a. Remove snow from walks and salt walks when needed. b. Mow and trim grass. c. Keep grass watered. d. Pick up trash from plant grounds and parking lot. 5. Miscellaneous a. Keep paper products and towel supplies in all bathrooms. b. Keep paper towels supplied by coffee maker and by copy machine. c. Perform standard operator preventative duties on sweeper and mowers as needed. d. Other duties as assigned to keep the plant in a clean and presentable appearance. DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately. 2. Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner. 3. Maintain production schedules. 4. Work with groups in initiating and implementation of programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S. 5. Other duties may be assigned at a later time
Education required/ preferred: High School diploma or GED Experience: Production work preferred but not required Preferred Skills/Qualifications: 1. Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills. 2. Basic knowledge and use of hand tools. 3. Sound decision making skills. 4. Be able to read, write, and follow written or verbal instructions. 5. Good troubleshooting skills. 6. Be able to exercise continuous mental, visual and audio attention. 7. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude. 8. Ability to work well in a team environment. Skills/Competencies: 1. Basic computer skills. 2. Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action. 3. Vision: Near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks. 4. Requires constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail. Other Skills: Ability to: lift 10 pounds regularly, lift 25 pounds occasionally, and up to 50 pounds rarely. Assessment: Employee must pass Pre-employment screening
