Performs assignments designed to develop professional engineering work knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks. Solid judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.

Works with Professional Engineer in screening assignments for unusual or difficult problems and selects techniques and procedures to be applied on non-routine work. Receive minimal to no supervision on new aspects of assignments. May supervise or coordinate the work of Cad techs and others who assist in specific projects.
