Brandywine Hospital Behavioral Health Pavilion is a 64 bed unit serving patients with acute mental health disorders, eating disorders and geriatric disorders.
The Behavioral Health Therapist functions as a member of the Inpatient interdisciplinary team to assess the functional abilities , impairments, and needs of each patient and to address these individually and through psycho-education groups. The Behavioral Health Therapist leads daily clinical, multi-modal and educational groups focused on essential skills patients need to manage their illness as well as their social environment. He/she documents clearly and accurately patient participation and progress. He/she is an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team of professionals and contributes to the formulation of individualized plans of treatment, regular reassessment of patient progress to ensure maximum therapeutic benefit.
This position will work with patients with acute mental illnesses.
Hours: Monday through Friday 8AM to 4:30PM; 1 weekend every 4-5 weeks; 2 holidays per year Qualifications
- Master's Degree in social work/psychology or other behavioral health sciences field.
- Five years experience within behavioral health.
- Group counseling experience.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Requires knowledge of human behavior, symptoms of mental illness and appropriate therapeutic interventions, de-escalation and management strategies, group dynamics, and topic-specific content, i.e. stress management techniques.
- Experience with acute mental health
- Knowledge and experience with group therapy
- Must be able to demonstrate creative therapeutic interventions
- Experience with EPIC (EMR), a plus
- Inpatient hospital experience , a plus
- Current CPI certification
- Current BLS certification for the Healthcare provider
