Job Responsibilities

Under general supervision, provides care to individuals in designated units with responsibility maintaining the nursing needs. 

  • In charge of medication and charts. Records progress notes on each individual. Actively participates in the total habilitation program of each individual. 
  • Functions as the Health Care Coordinator of assigned unit, with responsibilities outlined in the immunizations, and orders written by authorized personnel. 
  • Maintains accurate records. Participates in the individual's single plan and functions as the Health Care Program of each individual is properly formulated, implemented and documented. 
  • Assesses individual's status and reports findings to nurse manager. Provides health education to staff, individuals and others. 
  • Inventories and orders medical supplies, assist with annual physical examinations, monitors the provision of a safe and clean environment, and performs other related duties.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Licensed Registered Nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing, Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.  Be current in CPR.

Must be knowledgeable of the principle, practices and techniques of current nursing practice. Have a good understanding of the nursing process and possess the ability to apply the nursing process in the clinical setting. Be an effective communicator, with the ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of others. Have a good understanding of nursing/medical terminology and current regulatory standards/practice.

Required ability to stoop, crouch, reach, stand, walk, lift, push, pull to talk and to hear. Required on occasion to assist in lifting in excess of 100 lbs. May be required to lift and carry medical equipment which may weigh in excess of 50 lbs.

Additional Comments

A $3,000.00 bonus will be issued at the SC Department of Disabilities and Special Needs for Licensed Practical Nurse II (EA15) and Registered Nurse II (EA30) new hires as critical needs in accordance with Section 117.65 of the 2018-2019 Appropriations Act. The bonus will be distributed after one, six and twelve months of successful continuous Full Time employment.
