Overview
Phoenixville Hospital is a small community hospital located at 140 Nutt Rd, Phoenixville Pa. The Peri-operative Services Department includes 7 operating rooms as well as Ambulatory Surgery Center- Limerick (located off sight), Endoscopy, Short Procedure, PACU, PAT and Sterile Processing. It is part of the Tower Health System which consists of 7 hospitals including Reading Hospital, Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, Phoenixville Hospital, Brandywine Hospital, Jennersville Hospital, Chestnut Hill Hospital and St. Christopher's.
The Operating Room is staffed on Saturday and Sundays from 7a-715 pm in house and by on call coverage from 7pm- 7a.
This position is a PRN RNFA on call position to cover emergency cases on the weekends.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include first assisting for multiple specialties including general, OB/GYN, urology, plastics, ortho, neuro, robotics, endo-vascular/vascular surgeries, and cardio/thoracic. Other Duties include maintaining proper aseptic technique and infection control measures. Position is a prn RN First Assistant, weekend on-call position. Candidate is expected maintain standards of nursing care, while a member of the surgical team, in accordance with approved policies, procedures and schedules. Interest and Participation in Shared Governance/ Magnet Journey preferred. Knowledge of EPIC preferred.
Assists surgeons working interdependently and under their direction. Functions include, but are not limited to:Preoperative skin preparation, positioning the patient, draping the patient, providing homeostasis, providing exposure, properly handling tissue, properly using instruments, suturing, cleaning surgical area and application of dressings, and other duties as requested by the surgeon that fall within the scope of licensure. RNFA under physician supervision performs the following functions. Performs surgical preparatory procedures (eg foley catheter insertion). Assists in transporting the patient postoperatively, communicates information to the postanesthesia care unit. (PACU)

Certification and Licensure
A minimum of three years of experience in first assisting in general, robotic, orthopedic, urology, plastics OB/GYN (including c-sections), neuro surgery, vascular and endo-vascular specialties.
Candidate should reside within 45 minutes of Phoenixville Hospital.

Qualifications
Education Requirements
- 2 year/Associate Degree or BSN (preferred)
Certification and Licensure
- CNOR Certification
- PA Registered Nurse License
- BLS, ACLS Certification
A minimum of three years of experience in first assisting in general, robotic, orthopedic, urology, plastics OB/GYN (including c-sections), neuro surgery, vascular and endo-vascular specialties.
Candidate should reside within 45 minutes of Phoenixville Hospital.
