With more than 14,000 team members, Tower Health consists of Reading Hospital, a teaching hospital in West Reading; Brandywine Hospital in Coatesville; Chestnut Hill Hospital, a teaching hospital in Philadelphia; Jennersville Hospital in West Grove; Phoenixville Hospital in Phoenixville; Pottstown Hospital in Pottstown; and St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, a partnership of Tower Health and Drexel University, in Philadelphia. It also includes Reading Hospital Rehabilitation at Wyomissing; Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences in West Reading; home healthcare services provided by Tower Health at Home; and a network of 22 urgent care facilities across the Tower Health service area. Reading Hospital's Laboratory is CAP accredited offering specialized testing, lab automation, and state of the art equipment. The lab offers cross training opportunities and the opportunity to be a part of cross-function process improvement teams. In Fiscal Year 2020, the lab performed 2,677,245 tests. Reading's lab offers opportunities for advancement and continued career growth. In addition, Reading Hospital is a level 1 trauma center and now performs kidney and liver transplants.
Responsibilities
The Medical Lab Scientist is responsible for evaluating and receiving incoming patient specimens and processes all testing in the Microbiology Lab. Must possess high level of quantitative skills, strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and be highly motivated in a fast-paced hospital environment. Responsibilities include: obtaining or receiving specimens, performing clinical laboratory tests by standardized procedures, understanding method principles, performing quality control, performing preventive maintenance, and interpreting results accurately, acceptably and within critical limits. The Medical Lab Scientist works independently, organizing work to meet established deadlines and validates all data obtained.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree: Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science or related science (Required)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience
- Certification and Licensure Requirements. MLS (ASCP) (Preferred)
