Responsibilities The section supervisor demonstrates the ability to work independently with strong organizational and decision-making skills and therefore is responsible for the organization and direction of day to day operations of the Histology and Cytology laboratory through effective utilization of resources. Oversight of technical and non-technical staff within the department. Ensures prompt, quality and appropriate lab testing along with the delivery of high-quality slides by overseeing the performance and interpretation of various routine and complex laboratory tests. Manages staff effectively to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of services. Maintains active and satisfactory working relationships with other hospital and laboratory departments, committees and medical staff. Assumes other project responsibilities as assigned by laboratory management to meet the departmental initiatives. Plans for the future development of the department within the constraints of the laboratory budget and hospital goals. Anticipate 25-50% technical/bench maintenance of duties
Qualifications Education: - BS or BA with MT (ASCP) or equivalent OR
Completion of accredited Cytology Program approved by the Secretary of Health and Human Services OR
ASCP or equivalent registry successfully completed and CMP maintained, if appropriate
Experience: - Minimum five years laboratory experience
- Supervisory experience (preferred)
Licenses/Certificates: - ASCP/AMT/CLS Certification and/or Registration
