Examine, diagnose, manage, and treat a full range of eye and visual problems and ocular diseases, to include the application of advanced instrumentation, optometric procedures and techniques, with an emphasis on therapeutic/diagnostic pharmaceutical drugs in the care of visual and ocular anomalies. Perform other duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities:
Eye examinations to diagnose vision problems and eye diseases. Utilization of instruments and observation to examine eye health and to test patient's visual acuity, depth and color perception, and ability to focus and coordinate the eyes. Analyze test results and develop a treatment plan. Prescribe eyeglasses and contact lenses, and provide vision therapy and low vision rehabilitation. Administer drugs to patients to aid in the diagnosis of eye vision problems and prescribe drugs to treat some eye diseases. Diagnose conditions due to systemic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure, and refer patients to other health practitioners as needed.
Training & Education:
Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited optometry school.
Pediatric Experience required
6 months experience
Required Licenses :
Current license to practice optometry in the State of Pennsylvania.
DEA license in the State of Pennsylvania
