Job Description


In 2019 the Tower Health Transplant Institute was organized and is the new home for the nationally recognized kidney and liver transplant program formerly located at Hahnemann University Hospital. The Transplant Institute’s team of transplant hepatologists provide inpatient services for patients with liver failure and all types of liver disease at Tower Health – Reading Hospital. The Tower Health Transplant Institute also includes the Center for Liver Disease that was part of the Hahnemann program. The primary responsibilities of the Transplant Hepatology component of the Tower Health Transplant Institute include to provision of specialized hepatology care for inpatients with liver failure while they await a suitable organ in the transplant waiting list. During this period, which may last for a few months to 1-2 years, these patients endure all the life-threatening complications of liver failure. Transplant Hepatology also provides the initial evaluation for liver transplant candidates, implement the medical evaluation of liver transplant candidates, and provided consultative services for liver failure patients who are not transplant candidates.

Job Summary

Reading Hospital is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to support our team at the newly acquired Tower Health Medical Group Transplant Hepatology Team. The APP will work closely with our transplant hepatologists to diagnose and treat patients on the transplant hepatology service line in the inpatient setting in the pre-transplant and long term post-transplant phases.

Duties include daily rounding on the inpatient transplant hepatology service as well as coordinating transitional care to the outpatient setting.

Office Hours: Monday – Friday 8am- 5pm or 7 AM to 4 PM; No on call; No major holidays.


Candidates must be graduates of an accredited APP program with a current NCCPA or CRNP certification and hold and maintain a current Pennsylvania license as an Advanced Practitioner.

Experience in acute care preferred, but not required.
