A Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist in his/her professional responsibilities in providing pharmacy services. Working under the direction of a licensed
pharmacist, participates in the preparation, dispensing, distribution and return of patient specific medications including intravenous admixtures, supplies and
maintains automated technology equipment, packages unit of use dosages, maintains and transports pharmaceuticals, and performs tasks associated with
regulatory compliance. Documents activities as indicated and performs other duties as required. Information will be
obtained by interviewing the patient, patient family, calling local pharmacies and also using other available resources. The information obtained will be entered
into a computer system and it will be used by physicians and other health care providers to determine treatment plans and medication orders during and post
discharge from the hospital.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience preferred.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Preferred
