Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and receives incoming patient specimens and processes for some routine and all STAT testing in the Core Laboratory including Chemistry and Hematology.
  • Must possess high level of quantitative skills, strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and be highly motivated in a fast-paced hospital environment.
  • Proficient in automated testing in chemistry, urinalysis, hematology including manual differentials, and coagulation including ECMO while differentiating age-specific normal values. Performs tests accurately and in a timely manner while recognizing deviations from expected results.
  • Enters test results into the LIS. Works as a team member in conjunction with other employees in the department and institution.
  • Complies with all quality control and quality assurance standards.
  • Maintains competency in performance of all pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical lab procedures.
  • Appropriately uses PPE while following all safety and infection control policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in medical laboratory science/medical technology or biological science required
  • Minimum one year lab experience preferred
  • MLS/MT ASCP Certification or eligible
