ArtistYear is a national arts education nonprofit and AmeriCorps program for artists to dedicate themselves to a year of service within low income schools to expand creative learning.
ArtistYear is dedicated to addressing inequities in arts education for K‒12 students. We train AmeriCorps Resident Teaching Artists—skilled and dedicated practitioners across all artistic disciplines—and support them as full-time teaching artists at schools that receive Title I funding to expand and deepen arts education.
The role of a Resident Teaching Artist (RTA) is to join a school community and expand creative learning through direct instruction, arts integration, and creating clubs and extracurriculars. RTAs have the unique opportunity to collaborate with the school faculty and community to support student engagement.
